The grotto is on Driftwood Island. Seen from afar, the entrance to the grotto appears to be blue, and has a shape similarrr to that of a jellyfish. After 90 steps up the island, the entrance is reached. The ceiling of the grotto is about 25 m high. Hundreds of stalactites falling down from the roof of the grotto look like a waterfall.

Dau Go Cave

Dau Go (Wooden Stakes) Cave is believed to have been the place where General Tran Hung Dao hid weapons in the war against the invaders in the 13th century A.D.

Dau Go Cave was found on the same name island, about 6 kilometers from Bai Chay Wharf. Dau Go Cave is one of the biggest and most beautiful caves of Halong Bay.
Dau Go Cave was created in Pleistocene epoch around 2 million years ago. The cave is 27 meters above the sea level.

However, some people believe that the name of the cave is connected with the victory of Supreme Commander Tran Hung Dao against Mongol invasion in the 13th century. Accordingly, wooden stakes were hidden here during high tides so that the Mongol could not see it. Then, they were transferred to Bach Dang River to create a trap to destroy the enemy’s ships. Therefore, the cave is then called Dau Go Cave.
